Mary McDonnell

 

Mary Eileen McDonnell, born April 28th 1952, is an American actress who appears on stage, television, and film. She was awarded Academy Award nominations for her role as Stands With A Fist in Dances with Wolves and May-Alice Culhane in Passion Fish. McDonnell is well known for her roles as President Laura Roslin in Battlestar Galactica as well as First Lady Marilyn Whitmore in Independence Day and Rose in Donnie Darko. In seasons 7 and 7 she appeared as Captain Sharon Raydor and in Major Crimes spin-offs on TNT.
